TERESA FLORES

(SHE/HER)

Embodied organizer

Daughter to a strong single mother and granddaughter to fearless Abuelita, Teresa carries the legacy that has informed her career path as a movement artist and performer. Teresa was born and raised in a small suburb just outside of Guadalajara, Jalisco. Poverty was the atmosphere and delinquency the norm. Teresa found a way out through dance, music and movement that eventually lead her to become one of the very few dance teachers in the surrounding areas.

Teresa began her dance journey at the age of 13 in a small studio named “Mae Africa” located right in front of the famous two temples in downtown Guadalajara. After years of training, she got accepted to the prestigious school of BELLAS ARTES-CEDART “Jose Clemente Orozco” where she was able to learn from great artists and thinkers. After graduation, Teresa migrated to the US and obtained a degree in dance from CSULB as well as a degree in music from Cerritos College.

Teresa has worked with several incredible companies including Viver Brasil, Ocandeniye, Colombian Movement, Atelier, and Acts of Matter to name a few. Teresa continues to train in her craft and strives to be a life learner- always looking for new ideas and inspiration.

Now a full-time educator and choreographer, Teresa continues to expand with courage to service her community and the world with her vocation.
